NZD/USD has recovered from recent losses and traded around 0.5910 in the Asian session on Friday. A closer look at the daily chart suggests that momentum could be shifting from bearish to bullish as the pair has broken out of its downtrend. In the meantime, another bearish pattern has been formed that could strengthen the deal.
Additionally, NZD/USD has risen above the 9- and 14-day exponential moving averages (EMAs), suggesting near-term strength. However, the 14-day relative strength index (RSI) is still below 50, suggesting that the downtrend is still in place. A break above 50 would confirm the change in sentiment.
On the bright side, NZD/USD is testing the upper limit of the lower trendline at 0.5920. A move higher could see the pair reach the psychological target of 0.6000, followed by minor resistance at 0.6038.
Immediate support for NZD/USD is found at the 14-day and 9-day moving averages of 0.5892 and 0.5883 respectively. A break below this could be disappointing for the pair, with the next key “backward support” level at 0.5850 followed by the two-year low of 0.5772, last seen in November 2023.
